It seems that never enough hybrids on the markets. The new 2017 Hyundai Ioniq shows that this manufacturer thinks the same. It’s also a big courage to put something on the market already saturated with Toyota Prius and its versions. But the new car from Hyundai is good enough to catch their own piece of the market and according to reliable information, that piece will be big.
Spy photos of Hyundai Ioniq say that it’s not aggressive and muscle car as we may thing at the first place. It is a sports car, with some interesting details and good appearance for a hybrid, similar to Toyota Prius and Honda Insight but different enough to has their own buyers. That similarity you have to look in the tall rear fenders, short overhangs, almost the same shape, and size and a hatchback-like rear end. But, Ionic has more traditional nose and windshield, as the matter of fact, much different from other Hyundai models and all known hybrids. The shape is aerodynamic, with the more upscale feel and chrome lower window trim with black details. Higher trims will be able to offer more interesting details so be prepared for more information later. Some knowers recognize the popular Chevrolet Volt in this car.
We can say how the inside of 2017 Hyundai Ioniq will exactly look like, especially because we don’t have the photos of it, but we can predict some things knowing the habits of the manufacturer. We expect the same dashboard and cabin design with similar center stack arrangement, instrument cluster, bright-blue inserts and flat-bottomed steering wheel. The well-designed dashboard has much better button layout even the number of buttons are much higher now and this attractive design fulfills 7-inch touchscreen with the rich infotainment system. Together with that, the Hyundai always puts Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, wireless inductive charging pad for mobile phones, TFT instrument cluster, satellite navigation, HD radio, sound and audio system, CD player, Bluetooth connectivity and more. Expect spacious cabin with good ventilation and comfort seats, too.
The 2017 Hyundai Ioniq will be a hybrid, a plug-in hybrid as a combination with the gasoline engine and a full-electric engine version. A hybrid version will have 1.6-liter Kappa GD gasoline engine with 141 horsepower combined with an electric motor. Electric motor, on the other hands, has 75 mph of speed and use a lithium-ion polymer pack instead of nickel-metal-hybrid batteries usually used on hybrid cars.
